WALTON COUNTY, Fla.— A fatal accident on April 21 in the Florida Panhandle left three Massachusetts students dead and another critically injured.
The accident happened at around 9:28 p.m. on Route 98 near Panama City Beach. A tractor-trailer attempted to make a U-turn in the paved median and struck an SUV traveling westbound.
Authorities identified Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman, both 18, as the individuals killed in the accident. Both were seniors at Concord-Carlisle High School in Massachusetts, according to the district superintendent. Emergency responders pronounced them dead at the scene.
Another Concord-Carlisle seniors died, and one sustained critical injuries and was transported to Bay Medical Center.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
