ATHENS— Authorities charged 40-year-old Bethany Gray with leaving the scene of an accident that critically injured a pedestrian on March 25.
Athens Police Department reported the accident occurred around 10:25 p.m. on U.S. Highway 72, west of Interstate 65. Investigators stated Gray, driving a dark gray Kia Telluride, struck the pedestrian and continued driving east without stopping.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Following their investigation, officers identified Gray as the driver and took her into custody. She was booked into the Limestone County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
The incident is being investigated by the Athens Police Department.
