TYLER—Dakota Hunter, 21, died from injuries sustained in a crash on Mar. 1 in Tyler.
The incident happened when the driver of an SUV, waiting to turn left into a shopping center, turned in front of two motorcycles headed south, causing a crash on S. Broadway Avenue.
Hunter was one of the motorcyclists involved in the crash. He was pronounced dead after the accident.
Tyler Police Department is still investigating the incident.
This accident underscores the dangers that motorcyclists face on our roadways each day. According to the most recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration National Center for Statistics and Analysis, there were 5,636 motorcycle fatalities in 2021 — the highest number ever recorded.
