KANE COUNTY—Erick Garcia-Porcayo, 31, and Rosalio Porcayo-Porcayo, 25, lost their lives Sunday night in a multi-vehicle crash in Kane County. The accident happened just before 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of Plank Road and Switzer Road.
Authorities said the driver of a westbound Ford F-150 pickup truck swerved to avoid a deer but entered oncoming traffic. The truck struck the white GMC Sierra carrying Erick and Rosalio Garcia-Porcayo head-on.
Emergency responders pronounced both men dead at the scene.
The GMC driver, a 30-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Ford driver, an 18-year-old male, survived but suffered severe burns and fractures.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.
