PRAIRIE COUNTY— Latarica Walker, age 26, remains in critical condition following a high-speed accident on March 25 on Interstate 40 near Hazen.
According to Arkansas State Police, the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. during an 18-mile chase. The chase began when officers attempted a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram pickup for a traffic violation. The driver fled, reaching speeds over 120 mph on the right shoulder of the highway. Near milepost 191, police executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention, which caused the vehicle to overturn and land in a ditch.
Walker was ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to Baptist Medical Center for treatment, where she remains in critical condition. Another passenger, Zuri Jones, age 45, was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is currently in stable condition.
Two other occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, were also injured in the accident. One woman died in the wreck.
Police found firearms, narcotics, marijuana, and cash in the vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing by Arkansas State Police.
