SEGUIN—Matthew Payton, 25, sustained critical injuries Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 46 in Seguin. The accident happened at approximately 7:50 a.m. at the Guadalupe River crossing.
Authorities reported that Payton was a passenger in a northbound 2013 Ford F-150 truck, which collided head-on with a southbound 2007 Freightliner. Emergency responders transported Payton to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 26-year-old male, died at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner, a 41-year-old male, escaped with non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to a hospital.
The Seguin Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the accident.
