SAN PATRICIO COUNTY— Oscar Gonzalez, age 43, tragically lost his life on March 31 after a dump truck crash in San Patricio County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported the accident occurred at 8:31 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 77 and County Road 1258, north of Taft. Gonzalez was driving a GMC Sierra westbound on CR-77 when a northbound Peterbilt dump truck collided with his vehicle.
Officials stated the dump truck failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection. The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway.
Emergency responders pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene due to significant injuries. The driver of the dump truck was taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline for evaluation.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers from DPS.
