HAUPPAUGE—Rafael Gonzalez-Duran, 46, from Brentwood, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a crash early Mar. 9 in Hauppauge. The crash occurred around 4:35 a.m. at the intersection of Route 111 and Route 347.
Authorities said a southbound 2021 Subaru collided with the eastbound 2011 Honda driven by Gonzalez-Duran. Emergency responders transported him to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A 29-year-old female passenger from Coram in the Honda suffered serious injuries, and a 23-year-old female passenger from Smithtown in the Honda also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Subaru driver, a 27-year-old man from Brentwood, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated: Previous Conviction Within 10 Years.
Suffolk County Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
