Authorities reported that Ragnar Nickolas Kristl, age 37, was arrested in connection with a crash that occurred in Grand Junction on Jan. 31.
The incident took place at the intersection of N. First Street and North Avenue when Kristl, driving a white van at high speed, rear-ended a passenger vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The crash left both drivers with serious injuries.
Kristl, who received medical treatment for his injuries, was taken into custody on Feb. 21 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He faces charges that include vehicular assault – driving in a reckless manner resulting in serious bodily injury, vehicular assault – driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, careless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The other driver remains hospitalized.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing by the Grand Junction Police Department.
