SURRY COUNTY, N.C.— Russell Losser, age 51, lost his life on March 18 after a multi-vehicle accident in Surry County.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Interstate 77 near milepost 86. Losser was driving a Chevrolet Equinox southbound when he rear-ended a stopped Volvo tractor-trailer. A Honda CR-V traveling south struck Losser’s vehicle from behind after the initial impact.
Emergency responders pronounced Losser dead at the scene.
The passenger in Losser’s vehicle was injured and hospitalized. The driver of the CR-V also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
An investigation into the accident continues by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
