HOUSTON— Tayler Ross, age 31, tragically lost her life on March 29 after being struck while assisting at an accident scene in Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:20 a.m. at 6001 Gulf Freeway. Ross exited a Ford Explorer on the shoulder to check on occupants of a disabled Ford Focus that had been struck earlier. A Mitsubishi Mirage swerved to avoid the disabled Focus and collided with both the car and Ross.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced Ross dead at the scene. The driver of the Focus also died in the crash.
Authorities stated the driver of the Mitsubishi suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver who initially struck the Focus fled the scene without providing assistance.
The Houston Police Department continues investigating and are seeking information about the unknown vehicle and its driver.
